Ever wonder how best-selling authors achieved their success?
There’s no one pat answer, of course. Becoming a best-selling author is the result of a number of different factors—not all of which are in the writer’s control. However, there are some things you can do to improve your chances of achieving that seemingly elusive goal.
I’ve been attending writers’ conferences since 1989, and serving on faculty at writers’ conferences and related events since 1998, so I’ve had the privilege of getting to know several multi-published authors pretty well. I have also done editing and proofreading for both traditional and independent publishers for about twenty years, and through that work I’ve learned a lot about how the publishing industry works.
On this website, and through a series of books, I will be providing insights into this exciting world, along with tips I’ve picked up and suggestions from some of the successful multi-published authors I’ve met over the years.
The first book in this series released in January 2014 (from Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas): Proofreading Secrets of Best-Selling Authors
Other planned books in this series are:
Editing Secrets of Best-Selling Authors
Keyboarding Secrets of Best-Selling Authors
Publishing Secrets of Best-Selling Authors
Marketing Secrets of Best-Selling Authors
For now, this website will focus on proofreading: how to catch and correct typos, inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and errors in punctuation, usage, grammar, and spelling.
I hope you enjoy your visit to my website. (And if you find any mistakes in it, I hope you’ll let me know. Please contact me here. Can’t have typos in a publication about proofreading, after all!)
