About Kathy


Kathy Ide Kathy Idehas been a published author since 1989. She has written books (fiction and nonfiction), magazine articles, play and movie scripts, short stories, devotionals, and Sunday school curriculum. She is the author of Proofreading Secrets of Best-Selling Authors, Editing Secrets of Best-Selling Authors, and the Capitalization Dictionary. She is also the editor/compiler of the Fiction Lover’s Devotional series.

Kathy has been a professional freelance editor since 1998. She offers a full range of editorial services for aspiring writers, established authors, commercial book publishers, and subsidy publishers. She has worked with Moody Press, Thomas Nelson, B&H, Barbour Books, Heartsong, Reasons To Believe, VMI Publishing, Holy Fire Publishers, and CLASServices.

Several of Kathy’s clients have landed book contracts with commercial publishers and/or agent representation after working with her. Books she’s edited, and authors she’s worked with, have been nominated, placed, become finalists, and won awards in several venues.

Kathy speaks at writers’ conferences across the country, teaching workshops and continuing-education sessions, leading mentoring clinics, giving keynote addresses, offering advance manuscript critiques, and having one-on-one consultations with conferees. She is the director of the Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference and the SoCal Christian Writers’ Conference.
